Ascii Server
ASCII File Server extracts data from plain text files and prints labels based on that data
Files with Delimited and Fixed Width data allow multiple items (fields) to be printed for each label.
Delimited files specify each field by using a field seperator character generally a colon, semicolon or comma. Fixed Width files specify the length of each field in characters
Data files can either be created manually using a simple text editor or word processor or from other applications such as Databases, Spreadsheets and Mainframe systems.
Making a label with the Ascii server
The ASCII Server allows the user to select the file name and format and the label to print
File Detect Print Server Mode (LabelCraft Professional Only)
The File Detect Print Server Mode allows automatic label printing bases upon a text file.
This mode will monitor for specific files to appear in a given directory (possibly on a network drive). When this file appears it is loaded and a print job is started.
Once the print job is completed the file is either deleted, moved or renamed .
The program then waits for the next file. Multiple files and corresponding labels can be monitored to provide automated printing from one or multiple applications.
For user documentation, please see the LabelCraft User's Guide (PDF format).
